Day one — Sighnaghi and two family marani in Kvareli: qvevri, a tasting with the owner, dinner there. Night in a guesthouse above the Alazani valley. Day two — Alaverdi, Gremi fortress and the Telavi market; back in Tbilisi by seven. Two stops a day, not eight.

The Georgian Military Road with stops kids can actually enjoy: Zhinvali, Ananuri, the Gudauri panorama. We stay overnight in Stepantsminda instead of driving back at night. Morning — Gergeti: 4x4 most of the way, walking only the last stretch. Back via Pasanauri with a khinkali lunch.
